Family Matters and Support
Family Matters is a flexible model of family support that reflects the needs of the community, the families it serves, our professional knowledge and above all, our commitment to keeping families at the heart of every decision we make.
We believe that all families deserve to be able to access the right kind of support, at the right time, and in the right way.
At the heart of the community (Our Approach)
We provide tailored, family-centred support, which means we work with families by helping them to identify where they are at and where they want to be and connecting them to the right tools and resources. By working together, we strengthen our communities and create positive change for our families and for all those who live and work in our communities.
As a community-based organisation, we have learned more than we could have imagined, which has led to continual innovation and growth of our services, reaching many more families with both existing services and the launch of new services.
Parents say...
What does Family Matters offer to families?
We offer tailored 1-2-1 family support based on the priorities and goals of your family. Our support can range from advocacy, emotional support, connecting you to community services, to practical support such as helping you access funding for essential household items, like white goods.
We provide caregivers of children with disabilities and/or long-term health conditions (no diagnosis required) with short breaks or respite care as well as connecting them with other caregivers and peers.
Our Access to Childcare Fund helps families access childcare to improve their financial well-being and access to employment/education opportunities through subsidised school aged childcare options.
We believe every family should have easy access to the information they need to support their children and young people.
Our website’s Family Zone is an online library filled with helpful resources, from energy and budgeting tips to materials from our Inclusion Library. If you need information that you can’t find on our website, contact our Family Support Coordinator, Roisin, at roisin.deville@indigogrp.com.
Looking for family activities within your community? Join our Family Matters Facebook group for local updates.
We deliver a free monthly family event, open to all families living in and around the Castlemilk area with a child under the age of 16.
Each session includes play and learning experiences for children and their families.
Families can find examples of activities from our services and additional information such as home learning activities, speech and language development as well as information on community activities and services.
Families can also access our Reloved clothing and Family Pantry at sessions.
Through various accessible activities, like consultations and working groups, families can share their ideas and help plan events, including our Carers peer support network.
Your feedback directly influences our resources and activities, ensuring they meet your needs.
Indigo Experience
Our approach to family support also means that families can access support throughout their whole Indigo Experience, from each Indigo team member, from the finance team to children’s key workers.
We have also a specialist team that all families can access:
Family Matters Report 2022/23
Integrated family support and school-aged childcare evaluation at Indigo.
We would like to thank Jayne Swanson Consulting for conducting this evaluation, the Scottish Government for funding the work and our parents/carers, team and young people for their contributions to the report.
